Histoacryl® Classic Tissue adhesive
Developed in the 1960’s - Histoacryl® Classic Tissue adhesive consists of monomeric n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate, which polymerizes quickly in connection with tissue fluid.
Available in two colours: translucent - for facial application and blue – clear visualization over quantity applied different applications.
Indications & Advantages CAN BE USED BOTH ON SKIN WOUNDS & INTERNALLY
Skin Closure
- Closure of skin wounds without tension, including clean surgical incisions.
- Incisions from minimally invasive surgery Histoacryl® can be used for closure of endoscopic incisions.
- Simple, thoroughly cleansed, trauma-induced lacerations. Up to 5-7CM.
- Polymerized Histoacryl® adhesive films are an effective microbial barrier
- Ready to use, product storable at temperatures below 25°C
- Wound closure in one minute. Only one layer required. Saves time and costs.
- Significant less pain than suture materials.
- High level of patient and physician satisfaction
Sclerotherapy
- Sclerotherapy of large oesophageal or fundal varices
- For bleeding and non-bleeding varices
- Combined therapy with Histoacryl® and conventional sclerosation therapy is possible
- Final hemostasis is achieved in >90% of cases
- Lower rebleeding rate than with band ligation
Mesh Fixation
- Fixation of hernia meshes, especially in inguinal surgery. Stand-alone fixation method in different hernia repair techniques.
- Comparable recurrence rate than with traditional fixation methods
- Low intra- and postoperative morbidity
- Reduced risk of post-operative chronic pain compared to traditional fixation methods
- Decreased surgery time compared to traditional fixation methods
